My parents will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this coming week, November 7th.  I’m super excited about it not to mention super proud.  I know it’s a rarity for anyone to achieve such a milestone.  (I’m only about 7 years in.)
When my mom and dad got married, mom was 17 and dad was 24.  They had my older brother a year later, me about 4 years later and lastly, my little brother, 3 years later.  They’re good people.  Their home has always been opened to all of our friends who consider my parents their own.  They’re giving, honest and hardworking.  They were also very non-traditional in how we were raised considering they are also very old-school Mexican.  For example, we were never given curfews.  If we wanted to go out, we should know what time we had to come home.  I, for one, couldn’t take advantage of such a broad curfew.  I’d succumb to the guilt and waltz in at a “reasonable” hour.  We were taught that we had choices so choose wisely.

I wish I could list for you the awesomeness that are my parents because they are.  They gave us a good childhood, full of so many good memories, that I will always be thankful for.  But, if I have to see that Battleship TEXAS one more time, I will scream.
